Yacht Charter Denia — Your Own Boat, Your Own Day

Charter a yacht in Denia and take the Costa Blanca at your own pace — the Montgo cliffs, the marine reserve at Cap de Sant Antoni, and the turquoise calas around Javea.

Private Yacht Charter in Denia

One boat, one group, one day that belongs entirely to you.

A yacht charter in Denia is a private booking: the boat is yours for the day, along with a skipper who knows this coast. No shared decks, no fixed schedule. You decide when to swim, where to eat, and how long to sit at anchor watching the Montgo change colour — the 753-metre massif the Phoenicians called "the elephant", which is the backdrop to every departure from this port.

We charter from Marina de Denia: 409 berths, 209 of them for visiting yachts, vessels up to 60 metres, 7 metres of draft in the entrance channel, and a Blue Flag every year since 2019. From there the coast opens both ways — Les Rotes and Cova Tallada within minutes, the Cap de Sant Antoni marine reserve around the headland, and the Xabia calas an easy morning south.

Where Your Skipper Can Take You

Four routes we run from Denia. Every one is adjustable.

Half day — Les Rotes and Cova Tallada

South past the harbour wall to Les Rotes, where the coast turns to rock and the water goes clear over the reef — juvenile grouper, oblada, big bream, and no sunbeds anywhere. Then Cova Tallada: not a natural cave but a medieval quarry, cut into the cliff from the 12th century under Muslim rule and shipped out by sea, which is why it stands at the waterline. Three to four hours. Snorkelling here needs no permit.

Full day — around the cape to Xabia

Around Cap de Sant Antoni — 150-metre cliffs, white gorgonians on the wall, protected since 1993 — and down to Portitxol, Cala Barraca and Granadella. Swim stops, a long lunch at anchor where anchoring is allowed, and the afternoon breeze behind you on the way home. Six to eight hours.

Sunset along the Montgo

Late departure up the coast as the light turns the massif gold and the limestone goes pink, a swim while it drops, drinks on deck for the sunset. Two to three hours, and the easiest thing on this list to say yes to.

The Balearics crossing

Denia is the mainland's closest practical port to the islands: roughly 55 nautical miles to Ibiza's west coast, about 65 to Ibiza town — 10 to 12 hours under sail. It is open water, not a coastal hop, so it needs the right yacht, an experienced skipper and a settled forecast, and it usually makes sense as an overnight or multi-day charter. Balearia's fast ferry runs the same water in about 2h15, which is a useful backstop if someone has to join or leave mid-trip.

Yacht Charter Denia — Frequently Asked Questions

The yacht is exclusively yours for the booked period, with a licensed skipper, fuel for the agreed route, your berth at Marina de Denia, safety equipment, insurance and snorkelling gear. Crewed yachts add a hostess or chef. Food, drink and optional extras are quoted separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

No. Every yacht charter we run in Denia comes with a professional skipper, so no licence or experience is required from you. If you hold a valid licence and want to take the helm yourself, bareboat charter is possible on certain boats — send us your certification and we will tell you which of the fleet you can take.

Capacity is set by the individual boat and its certification. Sailing yachts and smaller motor yachts typically take up to 10 to 12 guests for a day charter; catamarans are usually the roomiest for the same number; larger crewed yachts take more. Tell us your group size and we will only show you boats that legally and comfortably fit everyone.

Yes — it is one of the main reasons people charter here. Denia is the closest practical mainland port to the Balearics: roughly 55 nautical miles to the west coast of Ibiza, about 65 to Ibiza town, which is 10 to 12 hours under sail. That is genuine open water, so it needs a suitable yacht, an experienced skipper and a settled weather window, and it works best as an overnight or multi-day charter rather than a day trip. Useful to know: Balearia — which was founded in Denia in 1998 and still has its head office here — runs a fast ferry to Ibiza in around 2h15, so a guest who cannot make the passage can still meet you there.

At Marina de Denia, the main marina in town: 409 berths, 209 kept for visitors, vessels up to 60 metres, 7 metres of draft in the entrance channel, fuel, a full yard and 24-hour security, and a Blue Flag every year since 2019. You will get the exact pontoon and berth with your confirmation. It is a short walk from the old town, roughly 100 km from Valencia airport and 103 km from Alicante airport.

The waters around Cap de Sant Antoni are a protected marine reserve, and the rules come from regional law, not from us. Anchoring is prohibited outright. Recreational fishing is banned in every form. Jet-skis and similar craft are not allowed. Scuba diving requires prior authorisation from the regional authority, applied for in advance — snorkelling, on the other hand, is free and needs no paperwork. Our skippers use the authorised mooring buoys rather than dropping an anchor. It makes for a slower, quieter visit, which given the posidonia meadows and the submerged caves below is exactly how it should be seen.

The skipper makes the call, and safety comes before the schedule. If the forecast makes the day unsafe or simply unpleasant, we offer you an alternative date or a full refund. Sometimes the answer is a modified route rather than a cancellation — this coast has enough shelter that a bad wind direction usually just means a different, equally good day.

June to October, when the sea holds above 20°C and peaks around 26°C in August. June and September are our favourites: the water is warm, the coves are calmer, and there is more choice of boats. The Levante is the most frequent wind from May to October and builds a dependable afternoon breeze — perfect if you are on a sailing yacht.
